Is TrueFrame Joist wood or steel?
It's treated lumber, not steel. TrueFrame is factory-planed and kiln-dried after treatment (KDAT) to reduce checking, cupping, and twisting, giving straighter, more stable joists than typical framing lumber while staying lighter than steel or LVL.
What sizes are available?
TrueFrame Joist comes in 2x8, 2x10, and 2x12 depths, in 12', 14', 16', and 20' lengths.

How far can TrueFrame joists and beams span?
Per ProWood's published Beam Chart (40 PSF live load + 10 PSF dead load, L/360, wet-use), TrueFrame joists are rated for simple spans up to 20 ft. Corresponding beam spans range from roughly 5' 6" up to about 16' depending on beam size (2x8, 2x10, or 2x12), ply count (2- or 3-ply), and joist span.
